I hope we are able to work well together and create some changes that result in you feeling happier and more comfortable in your life. 

I thoroughly enjoy working with people- getting to know them and helping to discover and resolve impediments to greater satisfaction and joy. I work primarily within a relational therapy framework and within that framework, utilize specific treatment models or techniques.  Many of the people that I see have a history of trauma, and are struggling the sequelae of adverse life events that significantly impact their present.  I also have experience with people experiencing a broad range of mental health and substance use conditions. I believe firmly in the human capacity to recover, develop insight and learn skills to make transformational change.

EDUCATION

I am a clinical social worker, currently providing psychotherapy in my Portland Maine private practice.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of New England in Portland.

WORK EXPERIENCE

For over 30 years I have worked diligently in a variety of capacities to help  people in Maine live  more satisfying and happier lives.  For a significant part of my career I worked in Community Mental Health running York County’s Crisis Response Services- offering clinically indicated options during hard times.  I served on Maine’s Board of Social Worker Licensure, provided therapy to patients in Mercy Hospital’s Primary Care Offices, provided treatment to patients in Mercy Hospital’s Recovery Center inpatient rehab and detox, and for the past 10 years have maintained my own practice.  Additionally, I have served on The Governor’s Trauma Advisory Board for the State Department of Trauma Services and the York County Juvenile Firesetter’s Clinical Assessment Team.
